The Serusi family’s farm is located in Fonni, a town found in the center of Sardinia. Fonni is a place which the Nobel Prize winner Grazia Deledda described as “a bizarre town nestled on top of a mountain like a resting vulture”. Born in the midst of the centuries-old oaks, the company’s mission is to protect and safeguard the local cultivators who defend and support the territory and it’s resources.
A supply chain project thus came to life, as was desired by the matriarch of the Serusi family. In fact, she was so convinced of the inestimable value of this heritage that she also created a fruit processing and preservation laboratory. With careful attention to the techniques and technologies used, she managed to create a competitive artisan product that today stands out for its quality and excellence, making this area even more indispensable.

The company pays particular attention to the care of the fruits, pampering and processing them with an expertise in organic production and biodiversity preservation that has been handed down over time. The company made its debut in the agro-pastoral world and soon after built its new identity as a major fruit orchard with a good production of vegetables as well, all of which are certified organic products.

The jams are made with passion and dedication, designed and studied to obtain a healthy and genuine product of the highest quality without the use of thickeners, preservatives or dyes.
By processing at low temperatures, the organoleptic qualities of the fruit remain unaltered. Therefore, the natural color and flavor of the fruit are preserved and a minimal percentage of sugar is used.
With our curiosity to create new flavors and our desire to conserve and protect resources, we have been able to obtain a wide selection of products to satisfy all palates.
Serusi Agricultural Company processes different varieties of fruit including apples, pears, strawberries, berries, figs, plums and quinces, as well as two local biotypes called pira vradonada (pear cultivar) and mela trempa urruvia (apple cultivar), which at one point risked extinction. Various additional fruit varieties come from the spontaneous harvest of typical fruits from the island. These include the strawberry tree, myrtle, prickly pears, blackberries and elderberries, oranges and peaches from San Sperate and Orosei, and pompia from Siniscola.
Sardinian apples, which have many varieties from trempa urruvia (red cheek) to winter apples, are used as thickeners in the processing of some jams. To correct the acidity, on the other hand, only the juice of organic lemons from San Sperate is used.

Serusi family farm selection not only includes jams and sweet marmalades to make all breakfasts a special occasion, but also jams to accompany and enhance our excellent cheeses. Of notable excellence are the chili, cannonau, ginger, elderberry and pira vradonada jams, just to name a few.

From the small peppers, or pepperoncini, grown on the farm, comes a special product of intense flavor. This fiery red product has a deep but balanced flavor which pairs well with meat stews and a variety of cheeses from fresh pecorino to perette vaccine (a type of cow’s milk cheese).
Some varieties, like the pira vradonada and quince jams, are offered in both the breakfast line and the accompaniment line for well-aged cheeses.
Of note, the pira vradonada is a biotype that until a few decades ago did not peak many interests despite being abundantly available in the countryside. Today, this is no longer the case. This cultivar is now part of the group of products the Serusi family farm is trying to recover and promote through innovation and transformation.

Serusi family farm’s mission was inherited from Mrs. Serusi, who dreamt of an open world which fostered younger generations. A world in which the youth could care for the territory, enhancing and loving it, and consequently adding value to our society.
